Mount Coolum Infrastructure Update

Mount Coolum is a busy little community, with so much happening; attracting hordes of people to our National Park to climb the mountain, the local shopping centre is increasingly busy, and after months of discussions it has been confirmed that the IGA extension will commence shortly, with the shell to be erected this year, and internal works starting in early 2019.   White’s IGA Mt Coolum is a wonderful asset to our community, not only stocking hundreds of locally sourced goods, they also support many local clubs, organisations and charities.

The upgrade of David Low Way at the entrance of Mount Coolum to create a bike lane is now finished; this will enhance safety for the many cyclists that explore this magnificent area on bicycle.

Construction works to upgrade the intersection of Suncoast Beach Drive and David Low Way, including traffic light instalment is due to be completed by November 2018.  The intersection upgrade is a requirement of the 2007 Development Approval (MCU05-0245) for the exiting Beachside estate, Yaroomba.

Meanwhile, the Sunshine Coast Airport expansion at neighbouring Marcoola continues to run to schedule, with dredging activities to be complete and all materials off the beach before the next turtle nesting season commences in November 2018.  Marcoola Beach Access 111 has been temporarily closed from May to October this year to accommodate the pipeline, and the dunes will be restored and revegetated after dredging is complete.
